Rotherwood's Bid for the Environment

Rotherwood Healthcare, which operates six luxury care homes across Herefordshire, Shropshire and Worcestershire, has purchased a line of portable battery-operated garden tools in a bid to be more environmentally friendly.

The electric ‘silent strimmers’ will be used to maintain the leafy grounds of Rotherwood care homes. Manufactured by Pellenc, the strimmers boast zero carbon emissions and noise levels lower than the legal requirement for ear protection. This will work to reduce disturbance to residents, some of whom have Dementia and a sensitivity to loud noise.

The gardening team received product training on the shiny new equipment at Rotherwood’s Home Support Centre based in Leicestershire. Of the company’s move to green technology, the CEO John Fennell has said:
"Our residents are integral to our decisions – we are always keen to adopt technology which is Dementia-friendly and will improve residents’ wellbeing. We remain committed to maintaining our luxurious surroundings whilst reducing the adverse impact to our environment and community. Green technology is part of our longer-term commitment to reducing our carbon footprint.”

Award-winning Rotherwood Healthcare offers a range of Residential, Nursing and Dementia care for older people. For more information on becoming a member of the Rotherwood Healthcare team, or to browse current vacancies, visit www.rotherwood-people.co.uk/vacancies, or call 01509 410887.
