St George’s Park was put forward for the community engagement award, as they have created meaningful links between the home and local businesses, charities and organisations. These community links are considered essential as they help limit isolation for older people, enhancing wellbeing within the home and wider community and also has a financial impact as residents support the local economy. 

Lead activities coordinator Cara Hodgkins had this to say “I am so pleased that St Georges has been recognised for this award. We have worked incredibly hard over the last two and a half years. As a home we understand how important activities are for our residents and how much they need social interaction within the local community. We have made some amazing friends and hope the partnerships last long into the future.” 

 

Due to the coronavirus pandemic the ceremony will be conducted online this year, so while the team will not be treated to a glamorous night out like previous years,. The St George’s Park team were one of four in the country to be nominated for the community engagement award, which is an outstanding achievement in itself.   

St George’s Park is part of the Rotherwood Healthcare Group and has a sister home in Shropshire, Roden Hall. Located just 10 miles from Shrewsbury the home has become known for its luxurious setting and decor, but its exceptional person centred care that’s at the heart of what Roden Hall has to offer. Like St George’s Park, the staff at Roden Hall are keen to create strong community links, the home hosts an annual Bonfire Night Party, with all the proceeds going to a local charity.
